Newborn, Maternity & Baby Sessions
“Baby whisperer extraordinaire”
Here is my Philosophy
As a mom of three I can honestly say that I understand that the first month of your baby’s life is overwhelming- whether you are a first time mom or a 5th time new mom. But I also know how fleeting these moments are. As a photographer I love to capture what is treasured and true- the real and fleeting memories and emotions of this new little person you have created. Now and as they grow.

Commonly Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book?
The sooner the better! Maternity sessions are typically booked for 32-35 weeks gestation, depending on how you are feeling. Fresh 48 and newborn sessions are tentatively booked in advanced, but of course we don’t usually know what day babies will be born. Once baby is born I just ask that you send me a text to let me know and we will solidify the session time. Fresh 48 is typically photographed in hospital in the first 48 hours, newborns are typically photographed 5-30 days after birth. I recommend 7-10 days old for the full newborn session though.
Do you use props for newborns?
I can provide props for your newborn. I have a ton of adorable wraps, blankets, outfits, hats, and bows for newborns. All items are freshly washed right before your session in baby safe detergent. I am very careful about germs and cleanliness. Before your session we will talk colors and props, I’ll send you a photo to choose items, then I’ll wash and pack up those items so they are clean and fresh for your session. Plus I wash everything after being at your home- so they are really twice washed! If you have items you want baby to be photographed with we can certainly chat that through before your session. If you decide to purchase clothes for baby, please make sure they are well fitting premie or small newborn. Most newborns are swimming in standard newborn clothes the first few weeks.
What should I wear?
I don’t really have “rules”, but here are a few general recommendations:
1. As a rule of thumb, try to avoid tight micro patterns (tight and tiny repeating patterns) and waffle shirts. These patterns/textures do not photograph well.
2. Also avoid neon shirts as they reflect strange colors onto your face.
3. Consider shopping for clothes at a store that coordinates colors across departments. For example: Old Navy, Gap or Target.
4. Choose 3-5 colors for the outfits. Try choosing 1-2 pieces of clothing within the family that has all or most of these colors. Then match those patterned items. Pinterest has so many great ideas for outfit combinations, or check out my instagram stories for more.
5. Wear what you feel really good in! I usually recommend you start with mom’s outfit and pick the rest of the clothes around what she feels really good in.
6. Email me if you have any questions. I am happy to help offer specific suggestions!
How do I book a session?
Fill out the contact form here on the site. I will email you a link where you can view my availability and request a session time. Once you pick a date, I will email you a scheduling confirmation. The confirmation will prompt you to pay a $100 non-refundable retainer and sign the agreement to hold the date of your session. If for some reason you need to reschedule we can do that, if you need to cancel you will have the option of applying the retainer towards another session. The remainder of your session fee is due on the day of your session.
How and when do I get my images?
After your session I narrow your images to around 100-150 of the best images. I don’t do much in the way of editing these images yet. Baring any family emergency, 3-5 days after the session I will email you a proofing gallery. You will have 10 days to finalize your image choices. Once you pick your favorites I will edit them up. About 2 weeks after that I deliver the final gallery and your download pin number. Optionally, I can mail you a flash drive with your images for an additional $15. Your images will be sized to a 4×6 ratio and sized appropriately to allow printing at any size up to 30″.
Do you offer discounts?
I offer a 20% military discount and a referral discount program. There is already a discount built into the 1st year collection.
Can you make me look thinner? (and other editing questions)
First I want to say that I am no size 6, so I understand your hesitation in front of a camera- in fact I faced my own fears this last year and did a 4 hour solo session so I can say I 100% get it! I firmly believe in body-positivity and healthy at every size. You are beautiful! I promise I will do my best to pose you and use flattering lens choices and angles, but I will not liquify your body in an attempt to make you thinner. In my past as a professional retoucher, I was forced to do a LOT of thinning and “perfecting” of portraits. I don’t think it is healthy and it communicates that you are somehow less than. I believe you are just how you need to be. Instead of focusing on your body, let’s decide instead to focus on all the joy surrounding you in life and celebrate your family connection.
Complimentary editing I will do upon request: acne, dry baby skin or scar removal, clothing fixes (bra strap showing, wet spot or stain, etc), flyaway hair removal, and softening of wrinkles. If your child comes in with a big scab on his/her face from yesterday’s fall- I will automatically fix that up in the final images. Flyaway hair includes hair in front of eyes, mouth, nose, and in the air around the head.
